Frequently Asked Questions

Before human intervention, honeybee colonies survived through natural selection.  However, since Man introduced Dadant/Langstroth hives and modern bee management techniques, the evolutionary process has been gradually replaced with the aim of maximizing the honeybee population and its survival rate.  While this development has yielded some clear advantages, bees have also suffered more diseases because of it.

PrimalBee® System is designed to allow the honeybee colony to grow and prosper to its fullest, providing all the support that bees need to live: maximum results with minimum effort.

Our hive is a revolutionary win-win product benefiting both bees and beekeepers.

It is "Primal" because our hives are created with the natural selection mechanism in mind.

PrimalBee® System is the very first hive to address the direct relationship of honeybee population, colony development, honey production, and colony diseases to the thermodynamic features of the hive. The success of our research and resulting products prove the thermodynamic properties of the hive are intrinsically important.

We love honeybees. Their success and survival worldwide are the very core of our project.

To find a long-lasting solution, we think out of the box. Colonies in traditional Dadant/Langstroth boxes often fail because of thermodynamic inefficiency. Such hive designs are a consistent problem for colony survival.  Bad hive designs add problems, they do not deliver remedies for overuse of chemicals, poor colony development, or mite infestation.  PrimalBee System is the game-changing solution.

Of course biology is important. However for the past 150 years, humans have been putting honeybees into wooden boxes just in order to manage beekeeper operations better.  They have been the standard hives ever since.  To our knowledge, no analyses have been made to understand whether such wooden boxes are even a suitable container!

We did, and this is what we found: the hive matters more than anybody expected! It is definitely not all about biology.

Brood surfaces need 36°C (97°F) and during winter, when the colony is broodless, the queen needs  28°C (85°F) to survive and be able to lay eggs the following Spring. The hive is the hardware connecting two environments at very different temperatures: the inside and the outside. The thermoregulation effort of the honeybee colony is related to the thermodynamic performance of the hardware itself.

Our patented innovations focus on maximizing the thermodynamic performance of the brood chamber.  Not only does our solution simplify the management of the nest by the colony, but also the whole colony can now center its attention on core activities: collect pollen and nectar,  increase brood population, and produce more honey.

More bees on the trees!

Yes you can! BeeHelpful has redesigned only the brood chamber and its frames.  The PrimalBee® System's superior honey boxes house the same Langstroth/Dadant frames with which you are already working.

No, you cannot.  PrimalBee® System is all about maximizing the performance of the colony, and thus we provide PrimalBee® supers as well.  They are a necessary part of the whole system.  Our patented PrimalBee® System coupling profile avoids any leaks among its parts and reduces dissipation, decreasing the honey consumption of the colony.  This means that you will harvest more honey and may leave the supers in place longer than usual, adding flexibility to the management of your apiaries.

Imagine your colonies, robust and happy no matter what the outside temperature - extreme highs or lows. If you were a Bee, you would surely rather spend the night in the PrimalBee® nest.

Varroa mite is in every country, except Australia...for now.  Our PrimalBee® results show that healthy bees naturally resist the Varroa mite better.  Our research sites in Israel demonstrate that after several generations of PrimalBee® colonies, no chemical interventions are necessary there!  PrimalBee® System reduces the varroa/bee infestation ratio, thanks to a healthier, more naturally mite-resistant population that the colony is able to develop.  Compared to standard hives, the superior performance of the  PrimalBee® System allows the colony to maintain significantly larger brood surfaces at the perfect temperature, with only one fifth of bee effort.  As the Varroa mite cannot infest as quickly, the result is more than twice the number of healthy bees.
